A high-speed camera is an electronic device capable of capturing images with exposures times of less than 1/1,000 second. It is used for recording fast-moving objects onto a digital storage medium. After recording, the images stored on the medium can be played back in slow motion frame by frame.

Aerospace:

In this aerospace application we have a seat ejection video taken at a high frame rate.

When the video is played back in slow motion, you are able to see great detail of the event that would otherwise be impossible to see.

Biology:

In this biology application we have video taken at a high frame rate of an animal heart beating. When the video is played back in slow motion, you are able to see great detail of the event that would otherwise be impossible to see.

Manufacturing:

In this manufacturing application we have a belt running on a pulley video taken at a high frame rate. When the video is played back in slow motion, you are able to see that the belt is about to break. The maintenance person can now schedule a belt change rather than the entire production line getting shut down when this belt unexpectedly breaks. This would otherwise be impossible to detect without the high speed video recording while the line is still working.

Digital Image Correlation:

DIC software recognizes the pre-applied dot pattern from the camera pictures taken at the start of the test when there is no load, then it calculates the deltas between dots in subsequent camera pictures to calculate the strain and the displacement of the material being tested. Semi-Conductors:

In this semi conductor application, we have a wire bonding video taken at a high frame rate. When the video is played back in slow motion, you are able to see that the wires are bonded in their correct location. High speed video recordings are very useful while programming this machine to bend and weld the wire correctly. This would otherwise be impossible to see without the high speed video recording.

Research & Development:

In this research and development application we have a drop test video taken at a high frame rate. When the video is played back in slow motion, you are able to see that the nuclear waste storage barrel is able to withstand the crushing force of the huge steel plate. This would otherwise be impossible to see without the high speed video recording.

Automotive:

In this automotive application we have an exploding airbag video taken at a high frame rate. When the video is played back in slow motion, you are able to see that the airbag filled properly and in the correct amount of time to hopeful save a life. This would otherwise be impossible to see with out the high speed video recording.

Surface Mining:

In this surface mining application we have a detonation video taken at a high frame rate. When the video is played back in slow motion, you are able to see if all of the detonations occur in the correct sequence, moving the earth in the location which was expected. This would otherwise be impossible to see with out the high speed video recording.

Pharmaceuticals:

In this pharmaceutical application we have a sorting video taken at a high frame rate. When the video is played back in slow motion, you are able to see if all of the pill bottles are pushed into the conveyor correctly. Long record time DVR cameras can also be use to record this process to catch intermittent pile-ups so that the operator can take corrective action. This would otherwise be impossible to see without the high speed video recording.

Food Processing:

In this food processing application we have a sorting video taken at a high frame rate. When the video is played back in slow motion, you are able to see why there was a jam-up of the cans and take corrective action to keep the line moving. This would otherwise be impossible to see with out the high speed video recording.

Beverage Packaging:

In this beverage packaging application we have the transfer of a foil label video taken at a high frame rate. When the video is played back in slow motion, you are able to see that the cap label is a bit late in the transfer over to the receiving part. The operator can now tighten up the timing to prevent missed transfers. This would otherwise be impossible to see without the high speed video recording.
